Specialist Subjects

Specialist Subjects at St George Preca Primary School

Our Specialist Program provides students with diverse, enriching learning experiences that complement and extend their classroom learning. Throughout the year, students engage in a broad and balanced curriculum, developing skills, creativity and confidence across a range of disciplines.

Students participate in Physical Education (PE) every week, ensuring regular opportunities to build fitness, coordination, teamwork and a love of movement. In addition, they experience three specialist subjects per semester, rotating across six specialist areas over the year.

Our Specialist Subjects

Students engage in:

  • Physical Education (PE) (weekly) – Developing fitness, coordination, teamwork and healthy habits.
  • Visual Arts – Exploring creativity through drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media.
  • Performing Arts – Engaging in drama, movement, role-play and performance skills.
  • Music – Learning about rhythm, instruments, composition and musical expression.
  • Languages (Italian) – Developing language skills, cultural awareness and global connections.
  • Digital Technologies – Exploring coding, robotics, problem-solving and innovation.
  • STEM – Using science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to investigate biodiversity, solve real-world problems, and engage in hands-on design challenges.

Our Specialist subjects are designed to:

By engaging in a rich variety of specialist subjects, students develop a broad skill set, discover new interests and build confidence in learning beyond the classroom
